Yesterday I went to the patchwork shop and bought the threads for my Nice People Nice Things project. I chose a nice country blend - 221, 223, 3041, 420, 3012, 926, 3852, 3781, 3768, 3362, 3772.
I also ironed on the first lot of stitcheries onto my fabric. You can just see them under the threads. I found the transfer worked really easily and gives a nice clear line in a grey colour. Should cover easily with 2 strands of thread. I backed my fabric with fusible pellon because I like the effect that it gives to my stitcheries.
I have to admit that I was a little daunted about stitching the words on the other side of the block. Helen Stubbings said that in making the original quilt she wrote her words (she was trying to get it finished in time for AQM) and recommended Fabrico pens. When I was at the scrapbooking shop on Friday I enquired about the pens, but they are out of stock and will not be carrying them anymore. I then thought I could use a permanent pen but then I decided that stitching would be much nicer. So to cut a long story short that's what I'm going to do.
I had planned to start stitching last night but was too tired.
Holiday almost over...
My parents left last night and today I spent doing some cleaning up. In a couple of days it will be back to normal and will probably feel like Christmas never happened. Today has been scorchingly hot (which I really like) and I hope that it stays that way for a little while at least. Winter here is too long as far as I'm concerned so I really look forward to some hot weather.
Until next time
