Do you remember the new dolly quilt I started with the half square triangles?
My idea of cutting out the pieces and leaving them next to my sewing machine worked. Whenever I was sewing other things, I would sew a few blocks. I then left them beside my ironing board, and whenever I was pressing something I would press the squares.
Before I knew it I had the half-square triangles ready to be sewn together in rows. That took no time and before I knew it I had a completed quilt top.
This system worked so well, that I plan to do it with all my dolly quilts in future.
For the border, I used a yellow print which is quite different for me. I tried lots of different fabrics, but then I glanced at a photo of the finished quilt in the book and noticed that Kathleen Tracey had used a yellow border. Out of curiosity I then tried the yellow fabric, and decided to go with that. It makes it look very colourful doesn't it?
The quilt is now layered and pinned ready for quilting. I plan to do my usual - hand quilt with Perle 8 thread. I'm not sure when I will get around to it, but it's there ready when I'm looking for a hand-sewing project.
Dad's coming home...
Tomorrow morning I'm picking my Dad up from hospital and taking him home. We are all very relieved and excited about it. He's still very weak, but other than that he's doing really well. He has surprised everyone, including the doctors. I know that God has worked a miracle and I give all the praise and glory to him.
Until next time
