It's Christmas Eve and I woke up this morning with a mental list of things that I needed to do today. Fortunately it wasn't too long and by lunch time (late lunch) I was able to sit back and relax. Over the last couple of days I've been wondering what happened to this year? It seems to have passed in a blink of the eye.
At times this year, I've felt like Peter (Matthew 14:29) when he stepped out of the boat, and started to walk on water when he heard Jesus call. When the storm swirled around him, he took his eyes off Jesus, became afraid of the storm and started to sink. But, when he called out for help, Jesus reached down and pulled him up. This year has been a challenging one for me, and at times I too became overwhelmed with things happening around me and felt like I was going under. In those times, I was able to call on the name of Jesus and he gave me the hope and strength to carry on.
I've been thinking about that this afternoon as I finish preparations for Christmas tomorrow. It's easy to get caught up in the food and presents, but Christmas is so much more than that. We celebrate the gift of a son. Through him, we have unfailing love and a steadfast hope that doesn't change with our circumstances. I'm forever grateful.
From our family to yours - Merry Christmas.
Until next time
