My Homespun magazine (Vol 13.2) arrived today and on page 85 is a project by me!
It's a bag and matching notebook project that I called Time Out.
The issue's theme is 'Oh so Fresh' and I was asked to design a bag that was 'fresh'! I chose these lovely Lecien fabrics and added a frill under the border. I also added a fabric tie for closure.
I made it a couple of months ago and I had forgotten what it looked like. As always I'm amazed at how the photography makes my projects look better!
Breaking Away...
I haven't been doing much reading lately but did manage to finish this novel by Anna Gavalda.
The novel has been translated into English from the original French and is the story of 4 siblings - 3 of whom are attending a cousin's wedding in the country one weekend when at the last minute they decide to visit their brother who is staying nearby. They are all responsible adults in their 30s but revert back to their childhood roles when they are together. The weekend is full of fun but there's a sense that this is only a temporary respite from their daily lives and the main character suspects that these escapades back into their fun-loving selves are about to come to an end. As the weekend comes to a close tension starts to mount as they start to resume their 'adult' lives.
I really enjoyed the way the book is written with brief snippets of conversation and funny descriptions of their companions including a cranky sister-in-law. It made me think about my own siblings and how when we get together we tend to slot so easily into our designated family 'roles' - not sure who 'designated' them but it seems to be a lifetime appointment. There's also a shared history and just like the sisters in the book, I've noticed that my sister and I share 'moments' that other people just don't get!
Nice story.
Until next time
Lyn

Your project in Homespun looked just gorgeous, Lyn, congratulations! The book looks very interesting - I love the French link - I am back to my French lessons with Alliance Française on Monday - so I should say your project is "trés jolie!" All the best, Meredith
