The last of the stitcheries from the Sew and Sew quilt:Another two of my favourite blocks that I seem to use in a lot of my projects are the Pin Wheel and the Shoo Fly blocks.
Not sure what attracts me to them but it's probably that they work so well in scrappy quilts. They look good in any project in fact!
The best part of sewing for me is the chance to do something creative. It's very satisfying when I get an idea and see it turned into something that I like. (Sometimes it starts out as one thing and becomes another.) I'm happiest when I'm creating.
The finished quilt:
This is the quilt all put together. Finished size is 29" x 29".
I pieced left over pieces for the border and binding. For the quilting I did what I often do - machine stitched around the stitcheries and then did an stipple design over the rest of the quilt.
I had some fabric left over which I was able to piece for the backing (had to add a couple of extra pieces from my stash) so it also fulfills my SBS (Stash Busting Summer) requirements.
The pattern is available as a 3 part block of the month in printed format on my website.

Hi Lyn
i too love sewing...i love the way i feel my whole body slow down...my breathing, my thoughts seem to slow and i am able to focus and really unwind...i love the feel of the fabric, the thread and the needle...i feel all the potential of my project. it is such a healthy feeling...my mind is being challenged with the workings out and my body is relaxing...all at the same time...and i can do it anywhere! thank you so much

It's a way of relaxing and coping with whatever is happening at the time, probably as it allows time to ponder on things and work them out. This little quilt has turned out really well, highlights all the pleasures of sewing

Hello Lyn, didn`t that idea turn out beautifully.
Your quilt is really pretty. I`m not much for thinking up an idea, but it is the talent of people like you that give us the idea to create something from your patterns.Stitching is my relaxing and unwinding time and restores my sanity. Thank you for a chance to win your creation.

Hi Lyn! Your quilt is wonderful! The two things I love about sewing- first, while making a project for a loved one, I am constantly thinking about that person; why I'm grateful to have them in my life, and I'm reminded to pray for them. Second, I am reminded of so many women who have also enjoyed this pastime; whether I've known them or not, women have used this form of art as a way of expressing themselves for many years! So grateful that we can share this expression of art that transcends borders and generations!
