Well it's been a scary couple of days here in paradise. A tropical cyclone from up north, turned into a serious storm and headed our way complete with huge winds and heavy rain. The city was in danger of flooding again but fortunately not as bad as 2 years ago and in fact the flooding at least turned out to be less than anticipated. For us, our property was safe but we lost power on Sunday and have only had it restored tonight. I've had to dump the contents of our fridge (fortunately I hadn't done the weekly shop so there wasn't a huge amount in there) and it's toasted sandwiches tonight (which is a huge improvement on rice cakes with peanut butter last night). Our water supply has been contaminated so we are all having to conserve water for the next couple of days.
Some people weren't as lucky as us and had their homes and businesses flooded again. Bundaberg has been devastated with lots of evacuations and homes totally inundated with flood water. Even the hospital was evacuated. It's a heart breaking time for the people of Bundaberg and my prayers are with them tonight.
Pink Patches Doll Quilt....
Before all this happened, I started another doll quilt called Pink Patches Doll Quilt from Kathleen Tracy's book The Civil War Sewing Circle.
I like this one because of the pink background squares and the simple four patch blocks.
I still have quite a collection of 2.5" squares (they seem to multiply of their own accord) and just cut them down to measure 2" squares required by the pattern.
I found this lovely pink fabric in my stash which I think will be perfect for the plain blocks.
I'm not sure about the border fabric yet - the pattern has a brown print but I think I will make the blocks and then see what looks the best.
That's as far as I got before the power went out. I really missed my sewing machine especially today and can't wait to start sewing tomorrow.
Until next time
Lyn
Glad to hear that you're ok, despite a little disruption. Australia really seems to be feeling the brunt of the weather at the moment. Keep safe.

I'm so sorry about the bad time parts of Oz are having. I'm glad you are OK.
The little quilt is going to be lovely.
I made 4 string blocks this morning. 'Good' I thought, some scraps used up. This afternoon I sorted out my civil war fabric bin and put some strigs in the strings bin, it doesn't look as if I've used any!!

Really pleased to hear you have survived another bout of horrible wet weather in Queensland. I was in Melbourne last week and thinking of you but didn't have your e-address. Visited that lovely shop in the Nicholas Building and came home with gorgeous threads and fabrics. Thanks for the tip. Cheers Glenys
