My love affair with floor mats continues. I've found them so useful that I just had to make another one.
This time, I looked to Cath Kidston's book Sew for some inspiration. There's a lovely applique flower design that features on both a quilt and a cushion which I thought would be perfect in some lovely Bonnie and Camille fabric. I think these pieces are from their Vintage Modern range and I chose three different prints for the flowers.
Three different light blue fabrics were joined together for the background, which would look nice with the bright applique flowers.
I fused the flowers onto the background with Vliesofix and then layered it for quilting. Although I'm not really going to quilt it - just like the other floor mats, I will sew close to the edge around each of the flowers shapes through the three layers. This not only secures the shapes but provides the quilting that is needed to keep it all together.
Once that's done, I'm going to bind it with a pink fabric.
Should be nice.
Until next time
Lyn
I love the colour of the background fabrics. It's going to look lovely

I've got that book too, Lyn, but so far haven't done anything from it. One day! I thought of you yesterday; I found a heap of ric rac at an opshop for 50 cents! Two lengths of red medium width and a pale yellow length of slightly narrow width. Good find as I was right out of red!

Hi Gina
I have a lot of books like that. Like you say - one day!
You certainly got a bargain with the ric rac !
I always look for it in op shops too - but it seems to be getting more and more scarce.
Hope you are going well.
Take care
Lyn
