Mum asked me to drop into Peppermint Stitches and buy some fabric for her (what a hardship!) and while I was there I picked up some things for myself.
I couldn't resist the charm squares Boho by Urban Chicks - the colours are so fresh. I don't have a project in mind for them yet but yesterday I started thinking that they might be nice in a small quilt.
But, the main purchase was the book S for Stitch by Kristyne Czepuryk (she has a lovely blog too). I've been thinking about ordering this book on-line but was pleased that Peppermint Stitches had it in stock.
The book has small alphabet stitcheries for both boys and girls. The stitcheries are also shown made up into 2 quilts which are different in construction as well as a couple of smaller projects.
The front section of the book gives really good advice about stitching from tracing the stitcheries, using a hoop, threads, and cutting out the finished stitchery. I found it all very helpful and full of good tips. Each stitchery is shown in detail with clear instructions as well as explanations about why different stitches and/or why one or two threads were used. Again, I found this to be really useful advice. The stitcheries could be used in lots of different projects and for that alone the book will come in very handy. Another good addition to my library.
Until next time
Lyn
