This year, Kathleen Tracey is again hosting her Small Quilt of the Month on her blog.
In March, the project was Strippy Triangles from her book American Doll Quilts but with a difference. The challenge was to make the quilt with 'ugly' fabrics. I really liked the sound of this so proceeded to dig out some fabrics that were a tad unfortunate looking and that had been sitting around for a while. But after looking through my stash I decided to approach it a little differently and use fabrics from my messy scrap basket.
My scrap basket lives under my work bench and when I'm cutting out a project, smaller pieces that don't end up in my 2 1/2" square basket, end up in the scrap basket.
I was then able to put the blocks together fairly quickly. Now they just have to be sewn into rows. I think my blocks look really pretty and am looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.
Until next time
