I started two new projects yesterday. The first one is another baby quilt - for another niece whose baby is due in a couple of weeks.
This project was originally Mum's but she's having trouble getting it done, so I volunteered to make it for her. She's just finished making a quilt for another niece (that's her grandaughter) and I think she's over baby quilts at the moment and has decided to make a couple of soft toys instead.
Mum had a pack of 5" charm squares from the Bungle Jungle range (my favourite) and I found this pattern in an older issue of Country Threads (Vol 12/8) called Summer Days.
You can see how it ends up in the photo.
You then sew together 2 x 2.5" squares and sew this unit to a 2.5" x 4.5" piece.
I've cut out the fabric and have left them near the machine. Should be a quick project (hopefully).
Garter Yoke Baby Cardi...
The other new project is another baby cardigan. This time it's the Garter Yoke Baby Cardi (from Ravelry).
I'm making this one in Patons Big Baby 8 ply in a lovely navy blue. This will be for a boy.
I only have one ball of this yarn so I did a tension square to make sure that it will be enough. My tension is the same as the pattern and the yardage listed is within the amount in the ball so hopefully it will be okay. I was thinking that I could always add a different colour button band if it is a bit short. I will knit with my fingers crossed.
Until next time
