Yet another new pattern arrived in store today. Two Brown Chickens is the new sttichery pattern from Leanne Beasley. The pattern includes a framed stitchery (11.75" x 15.75") and a cushion cover (16.5"x16.5").
The pattern includes an iron-on transfer for the framed stitchery. See it on my website.
Shangri-La Quilt...
Do you remember the lap quilt I'm making for Annie's Legacy? Today I finished sewing all the blocks together.
I'm happy with the ways the colours blend and like the way the blocks form a secondary pattern. The quilt so far only measures 36"x36" and the group recommends that a lap quilt measure 48"x48". To fix the problem I will either have to add more blocks or a border. I don't have enough fabric for either and will have to buy some to finish it off. Even though I worked out that it would probably cost the same to buy border fabric or pieces of different colour fabrics to make blocks, I've opted for the border option simply because I don't want any fabric left over. The whole aim was to use up my stash and not add to it.
I'm going to add a narrow border or red fabric (it's different to the red in the quilt) and a wider border of a brown fabric - this is also different to the brown in the quilt. This will bring the quilt top to the correct size.
I'm keen to get it finished because I don't want to start anything new until it's done.
State of Origin...
Tonight is the first match of the State of Origin series (for the uninitiated - rugby league football games between Queensland and New South Wales). It's always highly anticipated here because even though we've lived 'down south' for more than 20 years our allegiance lies north. I think it's a case of 'once a Queenslander always a Queenslander'. So...
GO THE MAROONS!
Until next time
